It is constructed with a hot-forged chromoly steel head and a positively angled pick and therefore designed as optimal for fast and aggressive self-arrest. With the pick facing back on descents, holding the adze puts the spike at just the right angle to give further control during self-arrests. The offset adze is an innovative design to ensure comfort when using the Neve Ice Axe as a cane.
